Galaxy of Terror Review
Alt. Ep. Title: “1-Ton Maggot Sex, Crystal Shurikens, & Roger Corman!”
Even more cultish good times abound for our latest episode! This time we tackle the Roger Corman sci-fi flick Galaxy of Terror aka Mindwarp: An Infinity of Terror. Remembered more for its infamous giant-maggot rape scene than being an alien rip-off. An interesting if somewhat bizarre low-budget B-Movie with competent effects, and an imposing/oppressive atmosphere.
GOT is a piece of exploitative trash ejaculated from the perverted/deranged mind of Roger Corman. A movie that is infinitely easier to appreciate once having viewed the massively entertaining behind-the-scenes featurettes. Hearing about the unending resourcefulness of the film crew and a young James Cameron as they tried to achieve the near-impossible on a shoe-string budget was even more enjoyable than watching the end result.
Flash Gordon Review
Alt. Ep. Title: “Long Distance Psychedelic Man Handling!” The long awaited review/discussion of the biggest cult sci-fi cheese fest of the early 80?s is finally here for your auditory perusal! A bombastically garish and over-the-top 35 million dollar sci-fi epic that tried to ride the coattails of Star Wars but flopped at the theatrical box [...]
Red Dead Redemption Review
Alt. Ep. Title: “John Marston+Invisible Bears = Ultimate Posse Fest!” Rockstar’s long-awaited open world take on the lawless free-for-all that was the wickedly-savage wild west is finally here! While we may not be ridiculously head over heels in love with the game the way that the rest of gaming community seems to be we certainly [...]
The Stepfather 1 & 2 Review (Father’s Day Special)
Alt. Ep. Title: “Birdhouse+Expendable Family = American Dream!” Just in time for Father’s Day we have a very special two-part discussion of the 80′s cult classic The Stepfather and it’s somewhat entertaining but highly inferior sequel. Apologies for the rushed nature of the episode but we do hope you manage to gleam some minor enjoyment [...]
Undisputed III: Redemption Review
Alt. Ep. Title: “Boyka vs Dolor = The Most Complete Cockfight!” Back in 2006 Undisputed II: Last Man Standing came out of nowhere, surprising a lot of martial arts fans and introduced many to the awesomeness that is Scott Adkins. Four years and one knee injury later Uri Boyka is back and this time he’s [...]
Exiled (Fong Juk) Review
Alt. Ep. Title: “Johnnie Camel-To = Brutal Bro-Mance!” Johnnie To has got to be one of the more consistently solid Hong Kong directors still working. To has a great deal of really entertaining films under his belt but Exiled has definitely got to be one of his more memorable movies to date. The strange back [...]
Dragonslayer Review
Alt. Ep. Title: “It’s All About The Dracorum Sagoblabla…” A joint venture from Disney and Paramount to create a more adult fantasy epic. A bit of a financial failure that later became an 80′s cult classic once it hit VHS. Harkening back to the days when fantasy movies took themselves more seriously (Dark Crystal, Willow, [...]
Escaflowne Review
Alt. Ep. Title: “Butt Pirates, Camel Toes, and Vibrating Catgirls!” Another attempt to bulk up the Anime Otaku section. A movie that I remember enjoying back in 2003 that I felt like revisiting on Blu-Ray in all its HD glory. Unfortunately, my tolerance for overly dramatic Japanese style angst (often present in JRPGs as well) [...]
